Presents The Alliance of Southwest Missouri
With Governor Blunt’s Show-Me Solutions Award

Joplin - Social Services Director Gary Sherman today visited The Alliance of Southwest Missouri as part of Governor Blunt’s Show-Me Solutions initiative which highlights the charitable work of organizations throughout Missouri.

The Alliance of Southwest Missouri facilitates communication and collaboration in Jasper and Newton county communities through the exchange of information, education and resources.  The Alliance’s vision is to have strong families and communities where parents work; and to have children succeeding in school and growing up healthy, safe, and prepared to enter productive adulthood.
 
“I am delighted to present this award to The Alliance of Southwest Missouri for their leadership in bringing organizations together to collaborate on issues that impact children and families in Jasper and Newton counties,” Sherman said, “We are delighted to partner with the Alliance of Southwest Missouri to help make life better for the citizens of this great part of our state.”

The Alliance of Southwest Missouri is designated as Missouri's Caring Communities Partnership for Jasper and Newton Counties. The Alliance facilitates partnerships between public and private agencies to improve conditions for families, children, individuals and communities in Jasper and Newton Counties. It also aids in building and strengthening community-based support systems. Through its partnerships with various organizations such as law enforcement agencies, state departments, school districts, health care facilities and the press, the Alliance of Southwest Missouri provides many needed services to the families in Jasper/Newton Counties including several parenting, mentoring and health and safety programs.
